Scrap metal will no longer be accepted at Home Rule Waste Transfer Station as part of changes that came into effect this week.

The Home Rural Waste Transfer Station is a facility available to nearby rural residents who do not receive waste collection to dispose of household waste and recycling.

The site previously had an open hardstand area for the stockpiling of scrap metal for collection by metal recyclers. Unfortunately this scrap metal area was frequently misused, and bulky items such as furniture and building waste incorrectly disposed of.

Council closed the scrap metal area this week in consultation with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).

All scrap metal and bulky items should be disposed of at the Gulgong Waste Facility or Mudgee Waste Facility.

Household waste and recycling services are still available at Home Rule Waste Transfer Station.
