Problem and chemical waste

Not all household waste is suitable for domestic collection.

Please use the below guide to determine how to dispose of your problem waste appropriately.

Mudgee Community Recycling Centre

Mudgee Community Recycling Centre is a free and easy solution for the disposal of household problem waste such as paints, gas bottles, motor oils, batteries, smoke detectors and fluorescent globes and tubes.

Many of these materials can be reused and recycled if processed correctly. Recycling helps our environment because it saves water, energy and natural resources. Only household quantities are accepted (20kg or 20L maximum container size). Please transport your materials carefully. Dangerous goods and items other than those listed are not accepted.

Chemical Clean Out

Safely dispose of hazardous chemicals within your home each year through Council’s free Chemical Clean Out.

These events are a free mobile service held across NSW on specified dates. Residents can safely dispose of substances such as pool and hobby chemicals, household cleaners, solvents, poisons and garden pesticides.

drumMUSTER

drumMUSTER agvet chemical container disposal 

Safely dispose of eligible, cleaned agvet chemical containers with items containing the drumMUSTER logo at selected waste facilities. The logo can be displayed on the chemical label, embossed into the container wall or applied as a sticker to the container. Containers not displaying this logo may be from non-participating manufacturers and will not be accepted into the program

You can dispose of drumMUSTER chemicals at local waste facilities:

Mudgee Waste Facility – First Wednesday of every month.
Gulgong Waste Facility – By appointment only.
Kandos Waste Facility – By appointment only.

ChemClear disposal

ChemClear is a not for profit chemical collection and disposal service for unwanted and unknown agvet chemicals.

Agsafe’s ChemClear program holds regular collection dates in New South Wales. Upcoming collection dates will be posted to this website.

Asbestos disposal

Residential loads (of up to 10 square metres) waste containing or potentially containing harmful asbestos can be safely disposed of at Mudgee Waste Facility for FREE. Pre-bookings are essential. Bookings must be made no later than 24 hours prior to disposal date. Find out more.
