To help reunite lost animals as quickly as possible all cats and dogs must be microchipped and registered.

Follow the prompts below to easily microchip and register your pet.

Registration fees are a once-only payment, which covers your cat or dog for its lifetime in NSW, regardless of any changes in ownership. 

Register your pet

Step 1.Microchipping

Ensure your cat or dog is implanted with a microchip by 12 weeks of age or before being sold or given away, whichever happens first.

Council rangers are certified to microchip cats and dogs. You can make an appointment to have your animal microchipped at the pound, or a time can be arranged for the ranger to attend your residence. Alternatively this can be completed at any veterinary practice.

Step 2.Register Your Pet

Register your cat or dog by six months of age either at Council or online.

The registration fee is a once-only payment, which covers the cat or dog for its lifetime in NSW, regardless of any changes in ownership.

No fees apply for animals that have been adopted from a pound or rescue organisation.

Change of address or ownership

Up to date pet information enables lost pets to be returned home.

The quickest and easiest way for the right information to be included on the NSW Pet Registry is to create an online profile.

You may also download PDF versions of the relevant forms and deliver to Council or complete in person at one our Customer Service Centres in Mudgee, Gulgong, Kandos or Rylstone.
